Sentencing Friday for Former Guard's Abuse, Porn ChargesWednesday, February 25, 2004 - 01:40 AM
A former guard from the Sierra Conservation Center might accept a plea agreement this week on charges of sexual abuse and child pornography. 46-year-old Neal Alden Leash is scheduled to go to trial on March 11th. He faces 95 counts of child porn and sexual abuse in Calaveras County.
Leash has reportedly agreed several times to various plea deals, but they've never been made official. The most recent attempt was at a trial readiness conference Monday, where Leash would be sentenced to 25-years-to-life in state prison for pleading guilty to one count of rape and two more counts of engaging in sex with a minor. In addition, Leash has already pleaded guilty to 11 federal counts of sexual exploitation of a child and could face 25 years in federal prison upon sentencing in Sacramento March 22nd.
